Atty. Thomas Stögmüller

Dr. Thomas Stögmüller, LL.M. (Berkeley) is an attorney admitted to practice in Germany and a certified specialist attorney for information technology law. He specializes in advice concerning IT, telecoms, copyrights and software law, outsourcing, data protection, intellectual property and antitrust. Another focus is on recent legal developments concerning Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Thomas drafts, reviews and negotiates license agreements, project, outsourcing, support and distribution contracts, as well as general terms and conditions. Furthermore, Thomas provides legal support on M&A, IPOs and due diligence within the fields of IT, IP and telecoms. Thomas has been appointed various times as an arbitrator in IT arbitration proceedings. He completed his doctorate with a thesis on copyrights and attained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California in Berkeley. He worked as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Law (US department) and then as in-house counsel in the telecoms department at the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport and Technology, before joining the law firms Clifford Chance and Haarmann Hemmelrath in Frankfurt. He has practiced as a lawyer in Munich since 2004 and is founding partner of TCI Rechtsanwälte in 2011. Thomas is the author of numerous legal articles and a regular speaker at expert conferences, such as those hosted by the German Society for Law and Information Technology (DGRI) and the International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw). He is also an assistant lecturer of the law faculty of Georg-August-University Göttingen and a lecturer for the training program for certified specialist lawyers for IT law. Thomas is a member of DGRI, ITechLaw, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (GRUR) and the German Institute of Arbitration (DIS). Native language: German.
