- I also did my graduate study in Theology at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Reformed Theological Seminary, and I am ordained as a minister
- I am actively involved in various community organizations and Redeemer Presbyterian Church, where I serve as an elder
- I am a graduate of the Leadership Lakeland Class XXIX
- My wife, Dámaris, and I have been married for over 30 years, and our daughter and son-in-law are both artists who live in the New England area
- I am an avid reader and enjoy cooking, entertaining friends, and traveling with my wife
- In my spare time, I enjoy making wine and smoking cigars
- I am a former marathon runner but in recent years I have replaced running with cycling
- I fluently speak both Spanish and English
