- He started as a correctional officer before quickly moving on to Probation and Parole, where he dealt with high-risk parolee reentry and domestic violence caseloads
- While he enjoyed his 5-year career in law enforcement, Ryan always wanted to be a lawyer
- He graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law with honors in 2021 and was admitted to the Idaho State Bar in September of that same year
- After working in civil litigation, he moved onto the area of law that always interested him most: family law
