- Amy joined MAPA in May of 2025 after leading a fulfilling solo practice for over twenty years
- During her time as a general practitioner, she enjoyed transactional law, some wills and probate, and working with non-profit organizations
- The heart and soul of her practice was helping families navigate the foster and adoption process
- This practice area included working with private adoption agencies, CPS adoptions, interventions into CPS cases, and several appeals where she honed her research and writing skills
- She was privileged and humbled to work with hundreds of families from every background and in over 40 Texas counties
- Amy counts that work as a great joy in her career
- Before graduating from the University of Houston Law Center and passing the bar exam in 2000, Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas, Austin, where she majored in studio art
- She taught art during summer sessions at the Junior School of the Glassell School of Art and then for three years in public schools where she developed a passion for helping children
- Originally from Houston, Amy and her husband John raised their son and daughter in the Humble/Kingwood area before moving to Galveston in 2021
- While they maintain close ties to their former community, they love living in historic Galveston
