- He hails from a family with a strong work ethic, being the son of the late Willie James Young, a retiree of General Motors and active UAW member, and Mrs. Bobbie Young-Brinson, who retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and currently resides in Ellenwood, Georgia
- Among his siblings, Andre holds the position of the fourth child
- During his high school years at Southwest DeKalb High School, Andre excelled as an honor student and was recognized as a National Achievement Finalist
- His academic prowess earned him an academic scholarship to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida
- However, following his father's passing, he returned to Atlanta to complete his studies
- At Georgia State University, Andre graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, with a minor in Sociology, and later pursued a Master of Education Degree in Social Studies Instruction
- During his time at Georgia State University, Andre was actively involved in student leadership roles
- He served on the Student Advisory Council to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, held the position of Student Body President, and took on the role of Director of Campus Activities and Programs
