- He graduated from Jamestown College, in Jamestown, North Dakota in 1999
- In 2003, he graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Law
- While at law school Brad authored an article discussing statutory interpretation that was chosen for publication in the South Dakota Law Review
- He was also voted 1st Place Outstanding Mediator at the 2002 National Law School Mediation Tournament, was a member of the school's Mock Trial Team, and a research assistant to Professors Frank Slagle and Michael Myers
- Upon graduation, he served as law clerk to United States Senior District Court Judge Richard H. Battey
- In 2005, Brad joined the Rapid City law firm of Beardsley, Jensen & Von Wald, where he focuses on cases involving personal injury, workers' compensation, civil rights, and insurance bad faith
- Since his arrival in Rapid City, Brad has always been active in the local Pennington County Bar Association (PCBA)
- The PCBA is an organization devoted to educating others about the role of lawyers in our communities as well as helping financially needy organizations in Rapid City
