  • After graduating from high school in Marshall, Texas, I attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in English
  • Soon after, I enlisted in the United States Navy and entered the Nuclear Power Training Program
  • After completing Nuclear Field “A” School and Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida, I transferred to Charleston, South Carolina, and concluded my training aboard the MTS-635, Sam Rayburn
  • For my efforts, I was I was selected to serve on staff as an instructor
  • In 1998 I transferred to the USS John C. Stennis, CVN-74 in San Diego California
  • I was deployed twice to the Persian Gulf, the last being in 2002, as part of Operation Enduring Freedom
  • During that final deployment, I earned the Navy Achievement Medal
  • I completed my service in 2003 and returned to college at University of Texas at Tyler
  • I earned a second bachelor’s degree in history in 2004
  • I enrolled in Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and graduated in December of 2007 with a juris doctor
  • After graduation, I married my wife, Audrey
  • We have two children and now live in Hurst, Texas, and attend First Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth
