- Born in Detroit and raised in Arizona, Dan served as a 1st lieutenant in the Air Force from 1954 to 1956 after attending the University of Arizona, where he received his law degree in 1952

- After serving as a Maricopa County deputy attorney from 1952-1954 and 1956 -1957, he went into private practice, co-founding the firm of Burch & Cracchiolo in 1970, which has grown from two to nearly 50 lawyers today
