- During law school, Mr. Long interned with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in Loudoun County and clerked for a federal judge in Philadelphia
- After graduating from law school, Mr. Long settled down in Richmond, Virginia, where he worked at the Public Defender’s Office in the City of Richmond
- Mr. Long rose to the level of Deputy Public Defender while handling cases ranging from misdemeanor traffic offenses to murder, rape and arson
- Mr. Long developed a reputation as both a exceptional litigator and a shrewd negotiator
- After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Long became a partner at the law firm of Meyer, Baldwin, Long & Moore, where he continues to defend citizens against the Commonwealth of Virginia
