- His anti-public corruption, money laundering, tax, and drug trafficking prosecutions brought him widespread acclaim and, upon his retirement, the United States Attorney’s Office Building in St. Croix was named the David Marshall Nissman Justice Center
- The Rotarians selected him as their Man of the Year in 2004
- He served as the Publisher for the Department of Justice from 1995-2000, where he and Ed Hagen developed the USABook electronic library
