Dr. Gerhard Hermann studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and received his Ph.D. as a research fellow sponsored by the German Research Association and the Max Planck Society at the Max Planck Institute of Materials Science in Stuttgart. He did research work at the Nuclear Research Center in Karlsruhe and at the Institute Laue-Langevin in Grenoble, France. After his training in the firm of VOSSIUS & PARTNER, he was admitted to practice as a German Patent Attorney (Patentanwalt) and a European Patent Attorney in 1983 and 1985, respectively. Since 1996, Dr. Hermann has also been a European Trademark Attorney. He spent several months with law firms in the U.S. and became acquainted with the basic principles of U.S. patent law. Dr. Hermann became a partner in the firm of VOSSIUS & PARTNER in 1986. His work focuses on opposition, revocation and patent infringement proceedings. Dr. Gerhard Hermann has published papers concerning various aspects of intellectual property protection and held lectures in Germany and abroad. His professional emphasis is on opposition and patent infringement proceedings as well as trademark law.
