- He practiced law in Cheyenne, Wyoming until 1980 when he accepted a position as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Uinta County and served in that position until he joined The Spence Law Firm in 1982
- Doug served as partner for twenty years and recently became of counsel for the firm in 2009
