- Jim served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York from February 1994 to November 1996, investigating and prosecuting individuals and organizations involved in RICO, money-laundering and other financial crimes
- Immediately prior to his service in Westchester County government, Jim was Counsel to Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker LLP where he provided legal and risk management advice to businesses and individuals
- From 2006 through 2009 Jim served as a Special Master by appointment of a United States District Court Judge to investigate and report upon alleged financial improprieties in the management of a pension plan
- Jim has served on the Board of Directors of Fifth Street Management, LLC and the Board of Trustees of St. John’s Riverside Hospital
- Jim has also been a board member of several charities providing scholarship monies to deserving students and previously served as the president of the largest Hispanic bar association on the East Coast of the United States
