- He has represented clients in arbitrations, mediations, cases in state and federal courts, appeals before federal boards of contract appeals, and bid protests to the Government Accountability Office
- He also has experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, bid protests, claims, and requests for equitable adjustment, as well as researching and advising clients on the unique risks and requirements of government contracting, including False Claims Act violations, Miller Act requirements, and Davis-Bacon Act requirements
- Jonathan has aided clients in resolving claims and disputes on contract changes, construction defects, design errors and omissions, differing site conditions, payment disputes, schedule delay and acceleration, and contract terminations
- Prior to joining Smith Currie, Jonathan worked as a law clerk with the Office of General Counsel, Department of the Navy, involving litigation and experience analyzing government contract disputes regarding construction and service contracts
- In that capacity, he gained experience preparing filings with the ASBCA and EEOC
- He also clerked with the General Services Administration, Suspension and Debarment Division, providing another area of knowledge regarding the procurement side of government contracting
- His experience with government agencies has provided him with a unique and valuable perspective when dealing with issues facing our construction and government contract clients
- Jonathan received his undergraduate degree from The University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology
- He then received his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School
- While in law school, he was a member of The Public Contract Law Journal and also the recipient of the school’s award for excellence in oral advocacy in both Pre-Trial and Trial Advocacy
- Prior to attending law school, Jonathan worked with Teach For America as a 5th grade science and social studies teacher in a south Atlanta elementary school
