- During that time, he became a member of both the Western State Politics and Government Club and the Western State Mountain Rescue Team
- As a member of the Rescue Team, Marcus earned a coveted spot on its rapid response and search unit, where he learned to handle emergencies with swift, logical responses
- Marcus earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law – Houston, where he was a member of the school’s Advanced Family Law Clinic representing indigent and abused parents
- He also gained probate experience as a member of the school’s Probate Clinic
