- His pre-law school days saw him take jobs from Episcopal youth-group leader to Dillard’s gift-wrap, mall security to Rock guitarist
- Eventually, those didn’t pan out, so he went to law school
- In law school he was selected for traveling mock trial teams that placed third in the National Trial Competition
- After law school, he joined the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office where he was eventually appointed to first chair of County Court number 1
- After two and a half years with the bad guys, RC realized his actual calling was representing those accused of crimes
- For the next 15 years, RC owned and operated the Law Office of RC Pate, a criminal defense firm dedicated to high-quality representation
- In this time, he was appointed to the editorial board of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s magazine
- became a Founding Member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association
- and a member of both the Texas DWI Lawyers Association and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association
- In 2015, RC was designated by the American Chemical Society as a Lawyer Scientist
- RC has completed the NHTSA/IACP Standardized Field Sobriety Practitioner’s course twice
