- After 7 years of living in Grand Forks, she decided it was time to move back to the Twin Cities
- Serena was a legal intern for the Community Violence Intervention Center in Grand Forks and clerked for the City Attorney
- Serena began her legal career outside of law school practicing chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcies at a bankruptcy law firm in Maple Grove, Minnesota
- Working in such a field taught her the value of remaining understanding and compassionate, while guiding people through the complexities of the bankruptcy legal process
- For as long as she can remember, Serena has had a desire to help people when they have nowhere else to turn and no other options to pursue
