- Prior to that, he served from 2015 to 2016 as Vice President Tax for Veeco, a global manufacturer of capital equipment, from 2009 to 2015 as Vice President – Global Tax for Sealed Air, a Fortune 500 global packaging manufacturer, from 2005 to 2009 as Chief Tax Advisor of Heyman Companies, a privately-held family concern that owned and controlled manufacturing companies, real estate, securities arbitrage trading and related businesses including ISP, a global specialty chemical manufacturer (sold to Ashland Corporation for $3.2 billion in 2011), and GAF, North America’s largest manufacturer of roofing and related materials
- Before that, he was Senior Vice President – Global Finance – Tax Counsel & Project Analysis of MasterCard from 2000 to 2005 and Vice President – Finance, Planning of financial printer Bowne & Co. (merged with RR Donnelly in 2010) from 1997 to 2000

- Before joining private industry, he was a tax partner at Botein Hays & Sklar, a NYC law firm founded in 1866, where he practiced from 1981 until 1989
- Mr. Sklar was a member of the tax faculty of NYU School of Law as an assistant professor from 1985 until 1987 and as Adjunct Professor from 1987 until 1999
