- Thomas A. Esposito was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut
- He graduated from Notre Dame High School of West Haven in 1983
- After studying two years at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, he received his B.S. in Criminal Justice at The University of New Haven
- Thom received his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 1990 and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in the same year
- In 1991 he started the law firm of Esposito & Volza, where his practice developed into the areas of divorce, custody, child protection
- Assisted Reproductive Technology law and open-adoption agreements
- In 2006, Thom became a Co-Founding Member and Partner at the law firm of Welty Esposito & Wieler LLC. Throughout his career, Thom has regularly served as a special master in the New Haven Family Court and at the Regional Family Trial Docket
- Thom has acted as a mediator in the Judicial Branch’s Child Protection Mediation Program and has served on several Connecticut Judicial Branch Committees and Task Forces including the Juvenile Practice Book Revisions Task Force

- In 2010, Thom received his certification from The National Association of Counsel for Children as a Certified Child Welfare Law Specialist
- Thom is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at Quinnipiac University School of Law where he teaches Advanced Juvenile Law: Child Protection Practice in Connecticut
- In May of 2020, Thom earned a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University
- Thom has been selected to the 2016-2020 Connecticut Super Lawyers® List in the practice of Family Law
