- I grew up in Washington, and after completing my education and some work experience out of state, I returned to the Seattle area in 1987
- I first worked as an associate attorney at the law firms of Karr Tuttle Campbell (1987 - 1991) and Short Cressman and Burgess (1991 - 1992)
- Then, in 1993, I opened my own law office where I practiced for twelve years
- In 2005, I joined forces with Jacob Menashe to form Hickman Menashe, P.S
- I am a past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association anda member of Washington State's chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys
- I speak regularly to community and service groups, such as the United Way, helping to educate people about estate planning, special needs trustsand other legal issues
- I am active in my church and community, where I frequently work with the Boy Scouts of America
- I enjoy spending time with my wife and two sons
