How does one get a transcript from a heaing in a Miami-Dade Family Court?

I believe Miami Dade's family court record all their hearings, but I'm not sure. First, do they? Second, if so, how can one obtain a transcript from a hearing and does it carry the same weight as having a court reporter there?

You would contact the judicial assistant for the judge or magistrate who conducted the hearing to find out if they had an electronic or digital court reporter recording the hearing, and if you need an order to get a CD or transcript of the hearing. You would need to pay for that. If one exists, it is exactly the same as a court reporter if you order the transcript, they are court reporters, you just don't see them in the court room, but they are actually there on the other end of the microphone. You can usually locate contact information for the JA by going to www.flcourts.org, go to the circuit courts link, go to your circuit, your county within that circuit if there is more than one, I know Broward has its own circuit, but I'm not sure about Miami-Dade. On the circuit website for your county, there should be a judicial directory with contact information.
A lot of courts now use electronic recording. You will have to contact the Court Administrator for the Dade County circuit court and request a transcript of the proceeding. These digital recordings when transcribed carry the same weight as a Court Reporter, after all it is the same testimony that is recorded. There will be a fee for this transcript.
You should probably request a disc of the proceeding and listen to the disc to be sure that it is what you want transcribed then if so order a transcript.
