I have a misd case pending and wish to file a discovery motion with the city attorney. The fine is less than hiring counsel and I do not qualify for a public defender.Im just not sure where to get the paperwork to file the motions. Thanks

You typically don't have to file a motion on these kinds of cases. You just fax the city attorney requesting a copy of the discovery and then they will supply a copy but you do have to pay for the photocopies.

You need to retain a criminal defense attorney if the crime carries a jail sentence. Contact some in your area for a consultation and work out a fee arrangement. Failing that, go online and seek information on criminal law discovery forms in your state, prepare the motions, send a copy to the prosecutor and to the clerk of court and retain a copy for yourself. Very dangerous to represent yourself without legal counsel. We lawyers have an old adage : "He who represents himself has a fool for a client".

You are making a huge mistake to go it alone. High a criminal defense attorney to assist you.
