What legal rights does a 21 year old have when being accused by police of dating and having a sex with a 17 year old in oregon?

I am 17 years old and I've been friends with a guy since high school we met over 4 years ago he is now 21. My mother called the police accusing him of dating me, a cop questioned me whether I was dating him and if we have ever been intimate I said no to both questions. The cop told me he was going to send the report to investigators, he said It seemed as if I was covering up for the guy since I did not give him his address. What can he do to protect himself legally and avoided any charges? The cop suggested he must take a polygraph test and that it will be forwarded to sexual investigation. As well as the cop told me a detective would talk to me as well as polygraph being done.

Remember that you don't have to answer questions put to you by the police. Your mom is trying to protect you, but at some point she will have to learn that she needs to give you some space.
He should talk to an attorney to see if (hypothetically speaking of course) he and you did have sex, what crimes if any could be charged. Different states have different ages where they prosecute for criminal sexual abuse (is what we would call it in Illinois). If he had any naked pictures of you it would be considered child pornography in all 50 states.

Both you and he can refuse a polygraph. Absent a subpoena taking your to court or Grand Jury, you can refuse to answer any questions. He can always refuse to answer questions, and if he's smart, the first thing he'll say when he sees the detective is, "I want a lawyer." That is the most important thing he can do to protect himself.
