There is no set schedule for any court to appoint a lawyer. Most courts will require a request to be submitted along with an income/asset schedule or a tax return to determine if you are qualified (indigent). Further, particularly in a felony case you may first be indicted before a court will even consider appointed counsel. The magistrate who set your bond (too high) may not be authorized to appoint counsel. Remember, you will be better off hiring your own lawyer who has more interest in you than an appointed lawyer.
