Maximum stay in US with L1B + H1B combination VISA

I came to us on May 2005 through L1B Visa and my company filed the H1B visa for me on 2006 and I got the approval for H1b on October 2006. I went to India for 3 weeks vacation on 2007 Jan and returned back to US on 2007 on H1B visa. I have got the second extenstion to my H1B and it is valid till July 2011.
My question is how long I can stay in US with my H1b visa now? i.e. from 2005 to 2011(L1 + H1) or 2007 to 2012(Only H1)
Thanks for your help.

You get a total of 6 years in your combined L-1 + H-1B status. This means that you maximum stay will end in May 2011, not counting any possible extensions if the permanent residence process is started in time. Also, you can recapture time that you spent outside the US, including your 3 week visit to India.
I agree with Elaine. You can also start working on a labor certification as soon as possible.
If the labor certification is pending for more than 365 days during the 6th year, you will be eligible to file an additional one year. If the labor certification is approved, then you will be eligible for the 3 years extension (actually until your GC gets approved in 3 years increment). Our law firm has successfully processed many PERM Labor Certification.
