My son is a soldier at Fort Polk and was arrested for DUI ... I was told he is being discharged ... what can I do to stop this??

This is his first DUI ... I was told in Louisiana they have a first time offenders class he could take to sponge this off his record ... what can I do to stop this from happening???

That would be according to Louisiana law. He would need to contact a Louisiana attorney or you should repost on the Louisiana AVVO page.

Unless you're a U.S. Army General or the President of the United States (or perhaps the Secretary of Defense), YOU cannot do anything to stop the Army from discharging you son. I'm sorry, but they do this all the time and every Soldier knows the risks of drinking and driving. This is very unfortunate indeed, but YOU are powerless over the U.S. Army and that should be fairly obvious.

He should contact a lawyer in Louisiana to discuss the DUI. Additionally, he should talk with an Army attorney to find out what his rights are related to the discharge. Usually there is a legal service office for the base to help the soldiers.
