Do I have a claim, or any hope of relief against the car manufacturer or dealership?

Purchased a certified pre-owned car in IL. Car has had issues from purchase. Tires were cupped, alignment was bad, etc. Car was NOT "in factory condition" as promised per pre-owned contract. Car has also had major problems including issues with acceleration and sudden power loss since purchase. Repeatedly took car for service, dealerships weren't "able to find the problem." Car lost power completely while driving twice, causing me to need to coast with flashers to the shoulder (pretty dangerous). Dealership just found the problem today -- cam shaft sensors are bad. Minimal cost, but I am over the 12,000 mile warranty by 2,000 miles. Does the fact that I brought the car for service multiple times and have a paper trail w/ GM showing attempted service make a difference to the warranty?
