Why are some lawyers answering my questions this way on this site?

When I ask a legal question on this site, I don't want to be referred to a lawyer. If that was my intent and I could hire one, I would not be asking anything on this website; I'd hire a lawyer. Due to my personal circumstances, hiring a lawyer is not feasible, therefore I am representing myself and just need some guidance from someone WILLING to give it. I believe that not one individual that posts questions on this website needs the subtle scare tactics that are being used when instead of answering their questions, a "suggestion" to hire a lawyer is given instead of an answer. I understand the need to promote your business, but I just need a straight-forward answer to my questions. Give me a chance to defend myself in a court of law before dishing out $1000s...please?!

Your frustration is more with the nature of this forum, then of the responses you are receiving. You cannot expect specific legal advice to a specific question from persons who do not know all the facts. There are legal and ethical rules that prohibit that. While folks on AVVO might provide general information, if you are looking for legal advice and instruction, then look for attorneys in your area who do pro bono work or who would provide a no cost or lost cost consultation. Contact the local bar associations and see if they can help.
Good post. I agree w/much of it. However, "suggesting" that one hire a lawyer on a question raised in CT and answered in OR does not promote my business. The best Avvo contributors do their best to provide you w/a decent and substantive steer (and consider it a play it forward act and are genuinely trying to help), but are no substitute for you having a lawyer... which is part of the reason that you receive so many suggestions to hire one.
You should check w/your local legal aid, a local law school's legal clinic, your State's Bar Association to explore whether a pro bono lawyer can assist you w/your specific case.
And you can try to post anew in the hopes that someone will give you some sound, competent advise. Best wishes
If you provide your actual question I will do my best to answer the general law issue for you if I can.
