A coworker/ friends husband showed up at my job and told everyone that his wife and I are having an affair! We are not......

I am so embarrassed and I don't want to go back to work. I work for an organization where integrity is in the forefront. My coworker/friend and her husband have problems. He has accused us of having an affair multiple times but this time he showed up and announced at my job that I am having an affair with his wife. I am afraid of losing my job and embarrassed to go back. It is a lie and I feel my reputation has been compromised. Is there any legal action I can take?

You likely have a case for defamation (slander). You will want to find a local attorney to help you determine if it is worth it for you to take legal action. An attorney will help you look at all of the facts and evaluate the pros and cons of taking action against this coworker's husband.

You may consider getting a restraining order against this individual, but unless you have been economically damaged - meaning "fired from your job" as a result, there can be no action for defamation.
