Can I have arrest records taken off my background?

I was arrested in 1993 for vandalism. I plead guilty and was sentenced to anger management classes. I failed to enroll in the classes and was re arrested in December of 1993 for violation of probation. I was sentenced to 30 days in jail and put on probation again and ordered to take anger management classes. Again I violate my probation and was arrested again in 1996 for violating probation. I need to know if it is possible for me to have these things taken off my record so that an employer can not see them or anyone who does a background check?

NOPE, you cannot have these things removed from your record. There are no erasers in CA.
If you have now completed the classes and other terms of your probation, you should be able to ask the court to dismiss the case. iIt will show up as a dismissed case and given that it was over 19 years ago, should not stop employers from hiring you. Since you were found in violation twice, you may benefit from services of an attorney in putting together a helpfull declaration on your behalf for the Court.
Mr. Finnecy is right there is no way to remove it from the record. However you can file a motion pursuant to Penal Code Section 1203.4 to have the case dismissed. If it is granted employers are not supposed to consider the conviction. With your various violations it may e difficult to have the motion granted, though the time that has passed will work in your favor. You need to hire a criminal defense attorney to put your case in a favorable light before the judge.
No what's on your record stays on your record. You may be able to apply for a dismissal but that won't erase the criminal conviction from your record.
Currently in Calfornia, you cannot erase your records per the arrests and convictions.
Sorry but California does not provide a means which you can completely clear your record.
