Is my California Teaching Credential in jeopardy if I choose not to fulfill an offer letter after signing it?

I was given an offer letter instead of a contract for a school district. It turned out to not be a good fit for me and I do not intend on returning. Can the district go to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and put a sanction on my credential for job abandonment even though I have not signed a contract? My position has not yet been approved by the Board of Education which is why I have not yet been issued a contract.

The District can certainly report you to the Board if they feel your actions were in violation of your obligations as a licencee. The Board cannot issue a sanction without due process. If you receive a notice from the Board, contact a license defense attorney.
