Is driving without a license in Indiana a deportable offense?

My husband of 14 years ( I am an American, as well as our kids) was charged with driving with no license in Indiana (again) We went to court and they were concerned only with his immigration status. The judge said, "You DO understand the consequences of immigration for this, don't you?" My friend who works at the courthouse said they are required to notify immigration for anyone who comes to court. He does not have a criminal record and we had, prior to this, started the proceedings for a U-Visa. What are the chances he will be detained at the court date? If he is, what happens then? Our lawyer will send with a paper saying he is in process of obtaining a U-Visa. Will this help? Court is June 1st.

Why isn't your immigration lawyer (the one working on the U) giving you the answer to this question? He/she is the best person to talk to.
