I received a notice to quit in CT.

I received a notice to quit in CT. The document has the date with when one would be expected to leave the premises; however, it does not have a date in which the documents were served. Furthermore the return of service only has a marshalls signature and a stamp ( a true copy attest: marshalls name and county) No date of service is on the document. The state of CT is confusing as to the wording that needs to be used in the body as well. Any direction that you can provide is appreciated.

The Notice to Quit does not need to be overly specific to be enforceable. If it contains your name, the address, and a Ct Marshal served you with the document, my guess is it probably meets the minimum requirements. The better question is have you attempted to work out the issues with the landlord that led to you getting served with the Notice to Quit, so you don't get served with the actual summary process complaint? If the answer is no, you probably still have time as the Notice to Quit is only the first step in the eviction process. Good luck.
