Can a registered sex offender sponsor green card through marriage?

Can my American husband which is a registered sex offender (happened over 15 years ago when he was 17 years old) sponsor a green card for me?
I know there is Adam Walsh act involve but from my research it doesn't make sense because I am not a child. I am an adult that knows how to make my own decision.
Right now we don't know what to do. Do we have to move to other country that would take us both so that we can spend the rest of our lives together as a happily married couple?
I marry him because he is the greatest person in the world. He is not the same person back then. He had a hard and bad childhood life which probably affects his actions and decision when he was a young teenager. I don't judge him because of his past. I marry him because of he is now. Unlike most people, they always judge him because of his past and that is an inhumane attitude.
It just seems cruel for the any country not letting a happily married couple to live and be together for the rest of their lives just because someone had a bad criminal record that happened a long time ago. People shouldn't judge anyone based on his or her past.
