Can I receive funds over the $250,000 policy limits in a motorcycle accident that was in no way my fault?

A driver ran a stop sign and T-boned me on my motorcycle. He admitted fault at the scene and pled guilty to the subsequent charges. Medical expenses, as well as lost wages will exceed his insurance coverage. How do I find out if he has assets above and beyond this, or does the insurance company have to cover him regardless of the amount.

This is a serious and complicated issue. While it is possible to receive compensation over and above the policy limit, your ability to do so involves a number of variables. There may be some additional insurance available that is not apparent yet.
