Can my non-union employer fire me for attending union organizer training? Because they did.

I was fired by my employer, a non-union private school, for attending union organizer training. I attended the training Monday-Wednesday of this week. I was told yesterday to appear for a meeting today. Today, Friday, was the meeting where I was told that attending the training gave the administrator chills. I was then fired.

This would appear to be a violation of the NLRA prohibition against retaliation for concerted activities- assuming the private school does not qualify as a religious organization, and otherwise meets the jurisdictional limits (relating to out-of-state commerce). Of course, the employer would claim that the termination was for other reasons, so you would have to be able to prove your case. You should discuss with an attorney who has experience with the NLRB.
