I just got a summons from capital one on a credit card. I do not deny that I owe them how much it says.

I should be able to come up with all of it within a couple weeks. What should I do to get this resolved?

Show up to court and either try to settle the debt or make payments on the amount you admit you owe them. The court and creditor will be more than happy to have the case resolved and the debt paid in full. The court will generally also give you time to pay.

You can contact the creditor’s attorney and try to work out some sort of payment agreement with them. When you call remember the person on the other end of the phone is trying to get you pay as much as possible, so stand your ground and play hardball.
You could also consider consulting with a local bankruptcy lawyer to see if that provides another alternative. Many bankruptcy lawyers offer a free consultation.

Call the other attorney and offer him half. It will go better than you think. Then tell him you will pay it in 30 days.
