- After obtaining his BBA in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1991, he passed the Uniform Certified Public Account Examination and worked for the Accounting Department of Mobil Oil Corporation in Dallas
- Mr. Pigg obtained his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1995 where he served as a Manuscript Editor for the American Journal of Criminal Law and as Vice President of the Texas Federalist Society
- He was a member of the Corporate Counsel Society and participated in Moot Court and Mock Trial
- Mr. Pigg began working in the area of workers' compensation while serving as a law clerk for Flahive, Ogden & Latson during his time in law school and worked there for an additional year as an attorney after graduation
