- He attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science, minor in English, in 2005
- Ben received his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in Oxford, Mississippi, in 2008
- He also studied at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England in 2006, focusing on international law
- Returning to North Carolina after law school, he practiced law with a large financial services law firm in Wilmington
- There, he managed multiple departments and advised national lending institutions on a wide range of mortgage and lending issues, such as foreclosure, collections, bankruptcy, replevins, landlord-tenant disputes, and real estate, before joining Crawford & von Keller, LLC, in 2021
- Ben is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the Tennessee State Bar, and the State Bar of Texas
