- Mr. von Keller thereafter taught high school history and coached soccer at The Joseph Kershaw Academy in Camden, South Carolina from 1976 to 1981, and he was the Assistant Headmaster during the 1980 – 1981 school year
- In 1981 he taught psychology and United States and European History at the Hammond Academy in Columbia, South Carolina
- Mr. von Keller enrolled in law school at the USC School of Law in 1982 and graduated in 1985
