- After graduating high school, moving out of his parents' home for a year of learning a little something of the real world, Dan managed to get accepted to Ball State University
- Excelling academically, even earning an undergraduate Fellowship, Dan began saving his earnings from employment in his dorm's dining service with hopes of earning more than just a Bachelor's Degree
- Following his Ball State University graduation, Dan applied to law school at Valparaiso University, was accepted and ultimately graduated near the top of his class in 1990
- Dan opened his law firm in 1990 with the idea that everyone deserves a good lawyer and those whose freedom is at stake, deserve the best lawyer
- Practicing criminal defense exclusively since the firm was founded, Dan has acted as lead defense counsel in over 4,000 criminal cases
