- Matt graduated cum laude from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and earned his bachelor of arts, magna cum laude, from Ithaca College
- He was the editor-in-chief of the University of New Hampshire Law Review, as well as a Daniel Webster Scholar
- While in law school, Matt interned with the Honorable Robert Lynn of the New Hampshire Supreme Court
