- He counsels the fiduciary boards of public and private sector pension and benefits plans as well as boards of trustees of multi-employer pension plans
- He has led governance and financial restructurings of major public sector pension and benefits arrangements in Ontario, British Columbia, Newfoundland and Alberta, and represents a range of plan sponsors, retiree groups and active members in the education, public, healthcare and multi-employer sectors, including in regard to major insolvencies
- Murray has long played an active role in the area of pension reform
- In 2008, he was one of four Expert Advisors to the Ontario Expert Commission on pensions, and has since been committed to pension reform in regard to public sector and multi-employer pension plans
- In 2014, he was appointed to Ontario's Technical Advisory Committee on Retirement Income Security, and in 2015 was appointed as one of three initial members of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Retirement Pension Plan Administration Corporation
- In 2009 – 2010, he led Koskie Minsky’s team in establishing Canada’s first funded postretirement health care trust in the auto sector
- He worked with stakeholders to create the tax and governance framework for Canada's first Employee Life and Health Trust'
- He has since worked closely with stakeholders in the governance and financial restructuring of health benefits arrangements in Ontario and British Columbia
- Murray Gold is a Fellow of the Ontario Teachers’ Federation, an honor in recognition of his work in regard to the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan
- Murray Gold graduated from Harvard University with an A.B. in 1981 and from the University of Toronto Law School in 1984
