- In 2017, he joined the Johnson and Somervell County District Attorney’s Office, where he was appointed Chief Felony Prosecutor for the 413th District Court
- There, he led trial teams and handled complex felony prosecutions, asset forfeiture matters, and civil commitment hearings, while also representing the State in seven appeals before Texas Courts of Appeals
- In 2022, Ryan was promoted to First Assistant District Attorney, becoming the senior managing attorney overseeing prosecutorial operations and trial teams across three district courts
- This role refined his strategic judgment and gave him a comprehensive view of how criminal cases are assessed, negotiated, and litigated from intake through trial and appeal
- After more than a decade as a prosecutor, Ryan transitioned to private practice in 2024, joining Curnutt & Hafer, L.L.P. as Senior Counsel before joining Michael & Associates as a Senior Trial Attorney in November 2025
