- Shane has authored and co-authored papers and articles and has presented at various events including he Canadian Tax Foundation National Tax Conference
- Shane received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Zoology from the University of Manitoba in 1997, a Bachelor of Laws in 2004 from the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2005
