We were stopped for a red light when the truck struck us. They claim full liability. As a result of the accident, I now have a permanent floater in my left eye. I have been to the eye doctor and he says that I will have it for the rest of my life. The liable company will pay my medical expense and want to know what I want for pain and suffering. What is a fair amount?
if the injury to your eye was caused by the crash, your case has a very significant value. nobody on any of these answer sites are going to be able to give you a good estimate of claim value. there are simply too many variables. i strongly urge you to contact an oregon lawyer experienced in injury work in your area. usually consultations are free and most work on a contingent %. you might think you are saving money by not having a lawyer but you are not. the only one that will save money is the liability insurance company. if you do not know an injury lawyer you might either contact the oregon trial lawyers association for names or your local bar association for names. word of mouth is also a very good way of finding someone. billboards and telephone book ads are not always the best source. good luck, and god bless and get a lawyer!
Depends on your medicals, wages, pain and suffering and long term impairment and medicals. Talk to an attorney. There is no way to guess at value with the information you supplied.
Both prior posting attorneys are absolutely correct. There is no "formula" for a "fair" amount. For example are you a photographer or opthamologist? In those cases your claim would be worth significantly more than the average person (like a lawyer) who just uses the eye routinely (reading, driving, etc.).
Contact a lawyer.
Best of luck.

Your pain and suffering damages will depend on your what's in your medical records and how you can show the accident affected your daily living.
If you provide a number to claims, you only set a ceiling for settlement. Better: Ask for an offer. If it is not acceptable simply ask: "Is that the best you can do?" If you don't like the number, contact an Oregon attorney who specializes in motor vehicle accident claims. Richard Rizk, Attorney at Law 1332 SW Custer Drive, Portland OR 97219 (503) 245-5677. There are too many factors which go into the evaluation of the value of your case to address here. You should obtain needed medical care and treatment immediately and follow the doctor's advice. Do not give any statement to the adverse party or insurance company nor grant them access to any medical records. Photograph the injuries and the damage done to any property. Contact a personal injury attorney in your area as soon as possible so that you can protect your rights. You may also find it helpful to review the Legal Guides I have published on .com dealing with many of the issues you are now facing.
