I missed the meeting of the creditors for my chapter 7 filing, what to do next?

I missed my meeting of the creditors for my Chapter 7 filing, and need to know what to do next. I was told the case would be dismissed (and per PACER, document court gave me told me to check there) nothing has been updated for that day.
How do I find out status of my bk?
You can go to pacer. You'll need to open an account and put down a credit card number as they charge per page printed/downloaded.
What I would do is contact the bankruptcy trustee to see if there could be a continued 341(a) meeting. You might be able to schedule another one over the phone with them.
You generally don't want your case dismissed for missing the 341(a) meeting, because it could affect any subsequent bankruptcy filing.

If you have an attorney call them. If you are pro se then go to the clerk of courts for the bankruptcy district that you filed in and look up the case. Sometimes a trustee will continue a meeting of creditors one time before doing a motion to dismiss the case. You will also get notice of that motion and you should show up to court and ask the judge for a new 341 date if you don't have an attorney. Hope this helps...
Although you should do your best to attend the Meeting of Creditors the first time, debtors are usually given "one free miss". It takes up to two weeks for the new date to be scheduled; and usually it's done in the form of an "Order To Appear At Continued Meeting Of Credtiors Or Case Will Be Dismissed", So you definitely want to attend the next scheduled hearing. Some trustees will work with you on the date, but in some jurisdictions it's scheduled automatically by the court. I agree with what the other attorney said, that you should call the Trustee and/or check PACER for the continued hearing date.
I suggest you call the bankruptcy clerk's office in the district where you filed, or you can go in there and have them look it up. Most likely your case has/will be dismissed.
