Letter of dismissal for ticket?

3 views 3 answers
I was driving through Joshua Tree and get a ticket for not having current registration. (I'm on tour and it was a month behind.) I had a fixit ticket for $20 . I sent money order in that month along with my current registration. A year goes by, I go to the DMV to renew my license, DMV tells me I have failure to appear in court along with a fine of now $700! I call the Joshua Tree courthouse and they tell me to send in a letter of dismissal to the judge since I'm on tour and cannot come in. I call 2 weeks after sending letter and they never even received the letter!! What is the next best step to resolve this? Anyone know any other letters or info to send to the judge to clear something like this up?

Hire an attorney in that area to take care of this. Sending letters and calling will not get the job done.

Hopefully, you did not send your only copy. Send the next one Certified with Receipt Requested if you can do so. If you cannot, you may have to show up with your documents when you return.
