Second speeding ticket in 2 months. What to do for best outcome?

9 views 3 answers
Recently got a speeding ticket in November for 14 over the posted limit and was not offered traffic school so it went on my record. And to my disappointment I ended up getting one last night a month later for 84 in a 55 on the highway, (caught by laser) because I sped up to catch a group of friends in two other cars since we were traveling as a group. I know it was wrong, so please don't lecture me on speeding. Anyways, from what I have read it looks like if I get two traffic violations within a year I can possibly have my license suspended for 90 days since I am 18. Both are in different counties if that makes a difference. I really can't afford the ticket, increased insurance, or being without a license. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

"I really can't afford the ticket, increased insurance, or being without a license." Unless the case is dismissed you will have to fight the charge at a trial. This pretty much sums up your options. You can go it alone or find a local attorney to help you.

You can hire a lawyer to try and help you build a case to challenge the ticket. Typically a lawyer will cost a bit more than the fine, but it could help protect your driving record and keep insurance costs down, so it's helpful in the long run. Most of us are willing do an initial consult free of charge and can better evaluate your case and give you a fee quote. Good luck! I agree with Ms. Summer - a lawyer may cost more than the ticket itself, but if the lawyer is able to succeed in fighting or reducing the charge or ticket you face, you may save a great deal of money when you consider the impacts on insurance, your driving privileges, etc.
