No proof of insurance in car when pulled over in wa state. Mitigate or contest by showing I was and still am insured?

I was pulled over and cited for no proof of insurance. The card I had in my wallet was from a previous company and several years old. Should I contest and show them my current insurance at the hearing, or would I be better off mitigating.

Contest. Show the Court with documentation that demonstrates that you had insurance at the time of the stop, and that you continue to have insurance. The Court can reduce the fine significantly. Courts really hate it when people drive around without insurance. So if you can appear and demonstrate that you had insurance they'll be relieved and won't throw the book at you. Hope this helps. Did you have valid insurance in effect at the time you were stopped and cited with the infraction and were unable to produce it? Or do you have proof of valid insurance now? You should request a Contested Hearing.
